Consignment Process

We'll help you find the most value in your closet while clearing out clutter and chaos to get you organized each day. Not sure what consignment is? We've broken it down for you:

1. Bring in Your Items: Bring in those fabulous items from your closet and home  that meet our guidelines. Enter through our front door and bring your items straight to the "Drop & Run" counter. Follow our guidelines and complete the consignment paperwork. Our intake team will ensure everything is properly labeled and ready for processing.

If you are a new consignor, we'll go over the contract and answer any questions you might have to ensure you are comfortable with our policies and procedures. Please make sure to read our consignment agreement. It's important.

2. Processing Your Inventory: We will start processing your items as time allows (we are the BEST and the Busiest). Items are processed by department, so clothing might be processed before home decor or handbags/footwear. Some brands are not accepted due to their original retail price being too low for us to compete. Occasionally, we may accept these items if they are new with tags, but this is rare. If we can't accept some items, please know it isn't personal—we only take items we believe we can sell.

Items will be entered into our inventory system, tagged with your account number, and priced competitively to get you the best return. Our goal is to have items entered and out on the sales floor as soon as possible, depending on the season. Many items are also uploaded to our website for more exposure, and select items may be featured on our popular Facebook LIVE shows.

3. Hitting the Sales Floor: All consigned items will remain on the sales floor for 60 days (clothing & accessories) or 90 days (home decor & furniture). We merchandise them, and some items are listed in our online store, giving them exposure to hundreds of people weekly.

4. When Items Sell: When your items sell, the money goes directly to your account. You will receive 40% to 50% of the final selling price, depending on the item (subject to any sales or markdowns). When you have a payable balance, you can stop in to cash out at any time or use it as store credit to shop for the best items that fit your style and wardrobe (refer to the contract for payout guidelines). If you prefer a check mailed to you, a $1 processing fee will be deducted from the balance.

5. Unsold Items: If your items don't sell, you can reclaim them at the end of the 60 days if the original selling price was over $25. Items priced under $25 that do not sell are automatically donated to charity.

At Best Friend’s Consignment, our goal is to make the process as easy as possible and to be transparent in our business practices. We encourage you to read through the information on our website and browse our online catalog to get a great idea of what sells best for you, our consignors—our partners.
